Brew Street takes over Lakeshore Drive from 5–9 p.m. with live music, local drinks, food, yard games and a full-blown waterfront block party.
Catch live music from Beautiful Problem and Chad Borgen & The Collective, grab a Social District drink benefiting the Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw, and stick around for the Lumberjack Lovin’ competition, a second Plaidurday photo and the Canal Colors Giant Pumpkin Contest winner announcement.

Keweenaw Brewing Company is a cozy craft brewery located at 408 Shelden Ave in Houghton, Michigan, at the heart of the Copper Country. Known for its inviting taproom and rotating selection of flavorful, locally brewed beers, it offers a taste of northern Michigan’s brewing craftsmanship. A favorite stop for locals and visitors alike, the brewery pairs craft beer with a friendly, community-focused atmosphere and a touch of regional charm.
The Carnegie Museum is featuring a collaborative exhibit on plaid’s origins in the Copper Country.

The Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw is open year-round and features changing exhibits and programs about the region’s cultural and natural history, including interactive displays to engage all learners. Located in downtown Houghton’s historic district, the museum is housed in the 1910 Classic Revival building that served as Houghton’s public library until 2006. Admission is free, though donations and memberships are appreciated.
Check in at the Houghton Pier while you explore the giant pumpkins, take in Houghton Fall Fest and catch the Keweenaw Color Run. With multiple Plaidurday weekend happenings here, it’s worth a stop (or two).

Michigan’s tallest waterfall is located on Highway M-26 just outside of Laurium, Michigan.
Houghton-Douglass Falls was recently redeveloped with an easier walking trail and is about a half-mile in-and-out hike.

Located in the heart of the Keweenaw Peninsula, just 1.5 miles north of Lake Linden, this 70-acre site is home to Michigan’s tallest waterfall. Dropping an impressive 110 feet, the falls offer breathtaking panoramic views of the rugged gorge and surrounding forest. This scenic site will also serve as a peaceful memorial honoring our veterans once completed.The site is made up of rock formations only found in the Keweenaw Peninsula; the main formations being part of the Portage Lake Lava variety. The falls honor Michigan’s first state geologist, Douglass Houghton, and his cousin, Columbus C. Douglass. Following Houghton’s untimely death, Douglass became a pillar of the region, driving the development of the Copper Country and even serving in the Michigan Legislature .While an accessible trail leads to a pedestrian bridge over Hammell Creek, the path beyond this point remains an undeveloped, rugged footpath. Please note that the area surrounding the falls is in its natural state and does not yet feature safety barriers or observation platforms. Visitors are encouraged to use extreme caution.
